Freshly Brewed Buzz with Kelly Dodd and Maya Rudolph
KELLY DODD ADDRESSES DRUNK WIVES MATTER HAT: Real Housewives of Orange County star Kelly Dodd‘s hat choice has landed her in hot water, and she is addressing the blowback. Dodd wore a hat that reads, “Drunk Wives Matter,” and images off her in it appeared on her social media feed. Many saw it as a send-up of the Black Lives Matter movement. She wrote on Twitter Tuesday night: “Over the weekend at my bridal shower I got lots of gifts and briefly displayed them. One was a hat with a play on words since I’m about to be a wife, I’m on a Housewives TV show and might be drunk once in a while. It was not intended to offend or make any kind of statement. Of course I support black lives and racial equality! Thank you all. Love, Kelly.” (Page Six)
CAMERON ELY SHOOTING RULED JUSTIFIABLE: Officials ruled that the 2019 shooting of Ron Ely‘s 30-year-old son Cameron Ely was “justifiable.” Police discovered that he had fatally stabbed his mother Valerie, and Ron told police his son did it. “Both deputies saw that Ely had blood on him and believed he was the suspect in Valerie’s murder. Both deputies pointed their gun at Ely. At least one of them illuminated him with the light on his firearm,” the report reads. “The deputies yelled multiple times at Ely to get down on the ground and to keep his hands up.” The report continued: “All four deputies reported that they feared Ely had a weapon until the point they handcuffed him, turned him onto his back, and pat searched him. The medics arrived very quickly because they had been staging on the street by the top of the driveway. Medics pronounced Ely dead on-scene.” (People)
MAYA RUDOLPH GOT LINES 5 HOURS AHEAD OF SNL: Maya Rudolph delivered what fans saw as a stellar portrayal of Kamal Harris on SNL for the Season 46 bow Saturday, but she tells Watch What Happens Live that she only received the lines five hours ahead of time because of new COVID protocols. “Everything was slower, it was harder to get things to cards, I didn’t really get my lines until air,” Rudolph revealed. “So I had never run that sketch until we did it live.” (ET)
JASON PRIESTLEY TALKS NO EYE CONTACT CLAIM: Last week, Jessica Alba shared that she had been told not to make eye contact with the stars off Beverly Hills, 90210 when she guest-starred. Jason Priestley told The Roz & Mocha Show: “’Don’t look at the stars of the show’ was never an edict that came down on our show. I don’t know who told Jessica Alba not to look at us.” He did admit that someone likely told her that “because they thought that was a thing to do,” but he said that he always tried to make sure guests felt welcome.
