KAMLOOPS — Connor Zary is a Calgary Flame.

After waiting longer than expected, the 19-year-old Saskatoon native celebrated with family as the Flames called his name 24th overall.

Calgary traded down twice before taking Zary, who becomes the first Blazers since Keaton Ellerby in 2007 to be selected in the first round.

19- year old Zary put up 38 goals and 86 points in 57 games in the Blazers COVID shortened season. Zary is expected to be back with the Blazers for the 2020-21 season.

CFJC Today will be speaking with Zary on Wednesday on his draft experience.

The 2nd round starts later this morning. Blazers goalie Dylan Garand and forward Josh Pillar were both listed in the final Central Scouting rankings and hope to hear their names called sometime today.
