KAMLOOPS — Tk’emlups te Secwépemc Chief Kúkpi7 Rosanne Casimir will be taking her leadership to a provincial level, having been acclaimed to the Board of Directors for the B.C Assembly of First Nations.
Dedicated to advancing the rights and interests of First Nations people in B.C, the assembly represents 203 First Nations in British Columbia. To bring a new local voice to the table, Casimir says Tk’emlups council previously noted it would be important to have a member from chief and council represent on the board.
“It is truly going to be an honour representing them at the governance,” she says. “My role on the board of directors will be looking at policies, doing amendments and improving budgets. So it’s very much what a council member would be doing here at the local First Nation level.”
