TK’EMLUPS — A young Secwepemc woman has recorded a stirring video about the legacy of Canada’s Indian Residential School system.
The video, titled “Weykt Xexweytep,” features Talise Seymour discussing how residential schools continue to haunt Indigenous people, even generations after their ancestors were forced to attend them.
Wednesday (Sept. 30) was Orange Shirt Day, a day set aside to remember the impact of residential schools on Indigenous people across Canada.
