TK’EMLUPS — In light of the impending second wave of COVID-19, the Tk’emlups te Secwepemc (TteS) is implementing a mandatory mask policy.

In a video posted to the TteS website, Chief Rosanne Casimir says masks will be mandatory in indoor spaces where people can’t stay apart.

“We’ll be implementing a mandatory face covering protocol for areas where a two-metre distance cannot be upheld such as in hallways, staircases or in shared vehicles,” Casimir said. “The use of face coverings [has been] shown to significantly reduce the transmission and exposure of the virus.”

Casimir notes the band will ask anyone who visits TteS offices to complete a contact tracing form. This includes band members, staff from other buildings or couriers.

She adds the community has been stockpiling cleaning supplies and PPE (personal protective equipment) in anticipation of the second wave.
