CHASE, B.C. — RCMP in Chase say a toddler was not injured after going for a wild ride in the family vehicle.

According to a Chase RCMP report, the incident happened on Sept. 4 after the girl and her mother came home from a shopping trip.

The mother parked the newer model Chevrolet Tahoe on the steep driveway and began unloading their purchases.

Standing on the driver’s seat, the toddler “managed to pull the vehicle out of park into neutral, allowing the vehicle to roll down the driveway.”

While the mother noticed immediately and tried to stop the vehicle, it rolled down the steep driveway, dragging her along.

It eventually came to a stop in the vacant lot below. Neither the mother nor her daughter were hurt.

RCMP say a mechanical failure may have played into the incident, “as it should not have been able to shift into gear without having the brake pedal depressed.”
