Tickets still available for VW Turtle River Race

KAMLOOPS — Hundreds of turtles are preparing for release along the South Thompson River tomorrow (Sept. 27), as part of the annual VW Turtle River Race.
Donations gathered through the fundraising event this year will support the Chris Rose Therapy Centre for Autism, the Kamloops Brain Injury Association, and the Kamloops Therapeutic Riding Association.
Participants who ‘adopt’ the plastic turtles with a ticket purchase will be entered to win a variety of prizes, depending on how speedy their turtle is. Tickets are on sale until noon Sunday, and are $10 each.
Tomorrow, the turtles will be released at the railway bridge, and from there they’ll ride the river’s current to the finish line at the Riverside Park pier. The first three turtles from each of the two races will win the prize packages (see below).
