Worksafe BC fines Cariboo sausage maker after accident injures employee

LAC LA HACHE, B.C. — Worksafe BC has fined a Cariboo meat processor after a gruesome workplace accident.
In a penalty summary, Worksafe says the fine comes after an inspection of Country Prime Meats in Lac La Hache.
It notes a worker cleaning a meat flaker machine reached to remove a cover plate from the machine’s conveyor trough when the worker “contacted the rotating screw auger.”
Worksafe says the worker sustained serious injuries.
