Provincial COVID-19 case count rises by 139, including three in Interior; three more deaths in B.C.

VICTORIA — The province of B.C. is reporting 139 new cases of COVID-19 Friday (Sept. 18), including three in Interior Health.

In addition, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry says 40 ‘historic’ cases are being added to B.C.’s totals. These cases were tested between Aug. 11 and Sept. 16 and belong to people without personal health numbers. The cases were handled by Vancouver Coastal Health, but had not yet been entered into the provincial totals.

That brings the number of COVID-19 cases seen in B.C. to 7,842 since the pandemic arrived, spread through the province as follows:

  • 2,817 — Vancouver Coastal (up by 103)
  • 4,007 — Fraser Health (up by 70)
  • 196 — Island Health (unchanged)
  • 492 — Interior Health (up by 3)
  • 244 — Northern Health (up by 3)
  • 86 — Reside outside of Canada (unchanged)
