KAMLOOPS — The remaining Canadian Forces Snowbirds aircraft grounded at Kamloops Airport will depart the city Thursday and Friday (Sept. 17 and 18).

In a news release, the Canadian Forces say the six Tutor jets will leave Kamloops between Thursday afternoon and Friday morning, returning to Snowbird base at CFB Moose Jaw.

Departure times will be subject to weather conditions and operational requirements, so the Forces can’t pin down exact departure times in advance.

In addition, one Tutor jet will take part in a test flight Thursday afternoon. Kamloops residents will notice the plane in the sky above the city and will likely hear loud jet noise.

The public is asked not to congregate to watch the Snowbird activity, in accordance with COVID-19 public health protocols.

Once again, the Forces expressed its thanks for the support shown by the residents of Kamloops and nearby communities in the wake of the tragic May 17 crash that resulted in the death of the Snowbirds’ public affairs officer.

After the crash, the remaining ten Tutor jets were grounded at Kamloops Airport while investigators looked into the incident. They began departing for Moose Jaw on Sept. 1.
