CRIME BRIEFS: Barriere RCMP release information on local crime

BARRIERE, B.C. — Barriere RCMP have released information on several crimes related to the community.

Accused thief, fraudster charged

A Kamloops man has been charged in connection with a year-old theft and fraud.

RCMP say a Barriere resident’s debit card was taken in the fall of 2019. It was subsequently used to withdraw cash from ATMs in the Kamloops area.

Investigators have now charged Daniel Eric Stedel of Kamloops with a single count of theft under $5,000.

Stedel is due in court on October 22.

Traffic signs stolen

Barriere RCMP would like your help finding the person taking traffic signs from the area.

According to a news release, the sign theft has taken place over the past two months.

Identifier signs for Armour Road and Hall Road have been removed, as well as a stop sign from Hall Road and two crosswalk signs on Armour Road.

Anyone who has information on the thefts is asked to contact Barriere RCMP at (250) 672-9918 or Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) 222-8477.

Kamloops woman wanted for shoplifting

A Kamloops woman is wanted for an extreme case of shoplifting.

RCMP say they believe the woman went into AG Foods in Barriere on July 30, concealed “a number of large items” and left without paying.

Robin Victoria Alcorn, 44, is wanted for theft under $5,000.
