KAMLOOPS — If you live in Lower Sahali, you may see and hear many motorcycles, and some cars, driving through your neighbourhood on Sunday (Sept. 13) with toys in hand.

The 2020 Kiwanis Toy Drop for Christmas Amalgamated happens from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Sunday at Broadcast Centre on Pemberton Terrace. Donors will drive through the parking lot before dropping off their unwrapped gifts.

“Because of COVID, we’ve had to change the run from previous years,” said chairperson of the 2020 Kiwanis Toy Drop Committee Jim Waldie. “We’re very happy to be holding it here at the Broadcast Centre, and what we’re basically having people do is they’ll come with their toys. They’re going to go into the exit of [the] parking lot on the left side building and drive down past [the front door], and we’ll have people up top to receive the toys and their donation. Then, they’re off to do a little ride and whatever they want to do.”

The toys are passed to Christmas Amalgamated, which every year provides children and their families with gifts and meal hampers they otherwise wouldn’t receive during the holidays.

“We want to make sure that all the children that are underprivileged will be able to get a nice gift for Christmas,” said Waldie. “We want to support the kids in that respect and that’s what Kiwanis does. We’re big kids and we’re helping small kids, and this is one way we can help them.”

Anyone can drop by the Broadcast Centre at 460 Pemberton Terrace on Sunday and bring a toy or make a cash donation. There will be an option to donate using debit or credit.
