KIJHL announces cohorts structure for 2020-21 season.

KAMLOOPS — The Kootenay International Junior Hockey League plans to begin its COVID-shortened season on November 13 with a 30 game schedule.

Teams in the Okanagan Shuswap Conference will play in three team cohorts in three stages.

Stage one will include a cohort consisting of the Kamloops Storm, Chase Heat and North Okanagan Knights.

Each team will play 12 games from November 13 to December 19.

Following the Christmas break play resumes on January 2 with the Revelstoke Grizzlies joining a cohort with the Kamloops Storm and Chase Heat, with each team playing eight games.

That will be followed by another break.

Then it’s stage three from February 5-27 with the Storm and Revelstoke Grizzlies playing in a cohort with the Sicamous Eagles.

The Chase Heat will move into a cohort with the North Okanagan Knights and Summerland Steam for stage three.

Thos three stages will account for 28 games.

To complete a 30 game schedule teams in the three team cohorts will play two additional games against a regional opponent.
