KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP have arrested two suspects in relation to multiple break-ins and thefts.

In a release, Staff Sgt. Sascha Fesenko says Crime Reduction Unit officers began an investigation September 1 in relation to recent home break-ins.

A search warrant was executed by the Crime Reduction Unit September 2 at a Brocklehurst home. Police allege the search turned up thousands of dollars in stolen property. The items included bikes, tools, alpine ski equipment, and car stereos. Some of the items found, were reported stolen in two break-ins earlier that morning.

As part of the investigation, a video of a possible suspect was released. Officers were then able to identify, locate, and arrest two men in relation to this matter.

21-year-old Shane McLeod faces 14 new Criminal Code charges and is scheduled to appear in Kamloops Provincial Court today (September 8).

  • two counts of break and enter
  • possession of break-in instruments
  • mischief
  • possession of property obtained by crime
  • wearing a disguise with intent to commit an indictable offence
  • multiple counts of breach of court orders.

A second man has also been arrested and faces charges pending approval from the BC Prosecution Service.

Kamloops RCMP also remind the public to record serial numbers for various property items, as they can often help police return stolen property to the rightful owner.
