KAMLOOPS – Batten down the hatches. The South Thompson and the rest of southern B.C. will be in for a windy holiday Monday.

Environment Canada has issued a Special Weather Statement advising residents of strong gusty winds. It says a strong high-pressure ridge in northern BC is expanding southwards.

It will lead to northerly gusts of up to 70 km/h in many valleys throughout the southern interior of B.C.

While wind gusts of this magnitude are not out of the ordinary, Environment Canada warns those people on lakes and at campsites, that they should be prepared for sudden gusts.
