B.C. reports 124 new COVID-19 cases, highest number in 24-hour period

VICTORIA – B.C. Health officials are reporting 124 new cases of COVID-19 in the province. It is the highest number of cases recorded in a single day since the pandemic began.

Health Minister Adrian Dix and Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry released a joint statement, listing the total number of cases recorded in B.C. as 5,496.

There are currently 974 active cases of COVID-19, which include four new cases in the Interior Health region.

Here is where the cases in B.C. have been found:

1,791 (Vancouver Coastal)
2,878 (Fraser Health)
174 (Vancouver Island Health)
433 (Interior Health)
142 (Northern Health)
78 (Reside outside of Canada)

Throughout the province, 23 people are in hospital, seven are in intensive care.

There are no new health-care facility or community outbreaks. There have been no new COVID-19 related deaths.
