Police on the trail of explosives found near Lafarge

KAMLOOPS — RCMP are asking the public to stay away from the boat launch and adjacent waterway near the Lafarge Bridge. They’re tracking down a report of explosives found in the area last night.

Staff Sergeant Sascha Fesenko says they got a call just after 7:30 PM Wednesday night (Aug 26) from a fisherman who said he had located a plastic bag containing explosives while pulling anchor near the bridge. Staff Fesenko says the angler apparently put the bag back into the water just off shore at the boat launch near the north end of the bridge.

He says the Explosive Disposal Unit and the Dive Team will be out today to try and find the bag and safely dispose of the contents.
