Kamloops volunteer among six recipients of B.C. Public Safety Lifeline awards

VICTORIA — Public Safety Minister Mike Farnworth has honoured six B.C. volunteers with Public Safety Lifeline awards – including a Kamloops woman.

Roline Sims is the recipient of the award in the Emergency Support Services (ESS) category.

In a video message, Farnworth says Sims “has provided more than 25 years of service as a dedicated ESS volunteer.”

“This has meant countless hours away from home, helping others in their time of need, putting the needs of strangers ahead of her own,” continued Farnworth. “She is recognized for her unique ability to troubleshoot problems, to find possibility when faced with adversity. She is consistently described as strong, kind, compassionate, approachable, skilled and knowledgable.”

The other award recipients include:

  • Ed Ehrler, Sparwood – Search and Rescue
  • Les Dawes, Shawnigan Lake – Radio Communications
  • Lynn Van Cadsand, Smithers – PEP Air
  • Don Hunt, Kaslo – Road Rescue
  • Judy Hagen, Heriot Bay – Lifetime Achievement Award
