KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops-Thompson School District has released its detailed plan for the start of the 2020-21 school year, as have all 60 public school districts in B.C.

Education Minister Rob Fleming says all plans have been approved by the province and follow health and safety guidelines in place to minimize the spread of COVID-19.

The District 73 plan says when students return to class on Sept. 10, they will be in learning groups with a maximum of either 60 students in elementary and middle schools or 120 in secondary schools.

District 73 students in middle and secondary schools will go through the school year with the quarter system, meaning they will study the same two subjects every day for 10 weeks before transitioning to the next quarter.

Students will remain in their learning groups for all breaks.

Meantime, the district says it will offer distance learning through the @Kool school program, however students enrolled in distance learning will not retain their spots in their physical schools.

Full details of the plan are found below, and the district has published a lengthy information website here.
