KAMLOOPS — Former B.C. health minister and Kamloops mayor Terry Lake has a new role. Lake has been named the C.E.O. of the B.C. Care Providers Association (BCCPA).

The BCCPA made the announcement in a news release issued Wednesday (Aug. 26). Lake assumes the role effective Sept. 8.

Lake served as the mayor of Kamloops from 2005 to 2008 before making the jump to provincial politics with the B.C. Liberals.

After departing provincial politics in 2017, Lake served as an executive with the Ottawa-based cannabis company Hexo. He left the company after deciding to run to represent Kamloops-Thompson-Cariboo in the 2019 federal election, ultimately finishing second to Conservative Cathy McLeod.

On its website, the BCCPA describes itself as “the organization representing the majority of the province’s long-term care, assisted and independent living and home health operators.”
