KAMLOOPS — Rain in the North Thompson is helping firefighters get the upper hand on a fire near the north end of Adams Lake.

Fire Information Officer Kyla Fraser says the Barriere Pass Forest Service Road fire is measured at 36.8 hectares Thursday (Aug. 20).

Fraser says it is still classified as ‘out of control’ but there are some positive signs.

“(It’s) burning at Rank 1 today, which essentially means it’s a smouldering ground fire. They did take a little bit of rain on that fire, so that’s, of course, helpful.”
