OTTAWA — Several sources report today (August 18) that Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland is going to be named Canada’s new Finance Minister.
Freeland has been front and centre in dealing with international relations and is seen as one of the Prime Minister’s strongest members of cabinet.
She would be Canada’s first female Finance Minister, and is expected to continue in her role as Deputy Prime Minister.
Federal Finance Minister Bill Morneau yesterday resigned both his cabinet position and his seat in the House.
