KAMLOOPS — Along with a heat warning that remains in place for much of the region, the B.C. Interior is now faced with the prospect of thunderstorms.

Environment Canada issued a severe thunderstorm watch Monday morning (Aug. 17) for much of the southern Interior, including the Cariboo, North Thompson and Shuswap areas.

The forecaster says thunderstorms may develop that could include strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain.

In issuing the severe thunderstorm watch, Environment Canada notes “Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles.”
