Hit and run sends cyclist to hospital

KAMLOOPS – A cyclist has been sent to hospital after being struck by a pickup truck along Summit Drive at the Monmouth Drive intersection. The crash occurred Saturday near 8:45 a.m.

A witness said a white pickup truck was travelling northbound along Summit when it moved into the cyclist, sending male rider into the pavement. The witness says the driver of the truck stopped momentarily before driving away.

Kamloops Fire Rescue Platoon Captain Troy Grant said the male cyclist’s injuries were not serious. The man was conscious as he was placed on a stretcher and taken into an ambulance.

RCMP members are investigating the crash. Investigators are hoping to speak with anyone who may have seen a white truck in the area around the time of the incident. Those with information can contact the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000.
