One person dead, one seriously injured after separate accidents overnight

KAMLOOPS — One person has died, another seriously injured in two separate accidents in the area last night and early this morning.
RCMP Staff Sergeant Ed Preto says police were called out at 5:08 PM Thursday to the intersection of the Trans Canada Highway and the Deadman-Vidette Road 7 kilometers west of Savona. Little information released so far about the accident, except that the victim was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
And an 18 year old girl was taken to hospital early this morning (Friday) after an accident on Parkcrest in Brocklehurst. RCMP says that at 12: 40 AM this morning, they were called out to a single-vehicle incident at the intersection of Parkcrest and Nicolani.
The vehicle the girl was driving ran into a power pole, shearing the pole almost in half. KFR Platoon Captain Dan Funk says rescue crews had to extricate the victim from her vehicle. The girl received what are believed to be serious injuries and was taken to Royal Inland Hospital for treatment.
