VICTORIA — A Richmond-based ride-sharing company says it plans to come to Kamloops in its second phase of its B.C. rollout.

ReRyde initially applied for a ride-hailing license through the Passenger Transportation Board (PTB) in January and was refused. An amended application was approved by the PTB Wednesday (Aug. 12).

ReRyde is based in Richmond but began operating in Manitoba in 2018. It now has 700 drivers in Manitoba and Ontario.

In applying to serve B.C. markets outside of the Lower Mainland, ReRyde says it will offer ride-sharing in Victoria and Kelowna with about 30 drivers in each city.
