Daily COVID-19 case count up to 85 Wednesday in B.C.

VICTORIA — The Province of B.C. has announced an eye-popping 85 new cases of COVID-19 Wednesday (Aug. 12).

That is the highest single-day total of new COVID-19 cases in B.C. since March.

Provincial health officials say the total of all cases seen in B.C. is now 4,196, spread through the province as follows:

• 1,273 (Vancouver Coastal)
• 2,203 (Fraser Health)
• 150 (Island Health)
• 394 (Interior Health)
• 104 (Northern Health)
• 72 (Reside outside of Canada)

There are now 531 active cases of the virus in B.C., including eight people in hospital and five people in intensive care.

One more person has died of COVID-19, the first death reported in 12 days.

The total of those considered recovered from COVID-19 is 3,469, or 83 per cent of all reported cases.

There are no new healthcare or community outbreaks and the province is monitoring the several community exposure events previously reported.
