Lansdowne Parkade to temporarily close for maintenance work

Aug 10, 2020 | 1:30 PM

KAMLOOPS — The City of Kamloops is giving residents who park downtown a heads up that one of the large parkade structures will be temporarily closed.

To allow for scheduled maintenance, the City says the Lansdowne Parkade downtown will be closing to the public until at least the end of the month.

As traffic deck membrane work wraps up on the Seymour Street Parkade, crews will move to the Lansdowne Street Parkade this week. The parkade will be closed to the public starting Wednesday (Aug. 12), and the updates should be finished by the end of August.

The City notes that the traffic deck membrane is designed to protect concrete structures from moisture, and replacement is part of regular maintenance.

Off-street parking is still available in these City-owned lots:

  • 300 St. Paul Street
  • 400 Lorne Street
  • 500 Lorne Street
  • Heritage House parking lot
  • Sandman Centre north parking lot
  • Riverside Park west-end lot

During this work, the City is not collecting parking fees in its parkades or surface lots, so the parking is available on a first-come, first served basis. Parking fees will be brought back starting September 7.
