Drug alert issued for Kamloops region
KAMLOOPS — Interior Health is warning people who use drugs of a toxic supply making its way through Kamloops.
A drug alert has been issued for the Kamloops region today (Aug. 8), warning of white powder being sold as cocaine that contains very high concentrations of fentanyl. The substance was identified through drug testing at ASK Wellness. The drug alert will be in effect for one week, until August 15.
IH says this substance runs a high overdose risk, as people who take it may not fully respond to naloxone. The public is asked to seek medical attention if someone appears to be overdosing, especially if naloxone is administered and doesn’t work.
