Walmart shoppers will soon require masks

KAMLOOPS — Walmart stores across the country will be requiring customers to wear masks as of August 12.

In an emailed statement from Corporate Affairs Manager Felicia Fefer, it’s noted that more than 60 per cent of the stores are located in regions where there is already some form of mandate on face coverings.

“Customers have done a great job following face-covering requirements in those jurisdictions where it is mandated by the local government,” the statement reads. “We trust that customers in the rest of our stores where we are initiating the policy will respect and follow it and will bring their own face coverings when they shop.”

Fefer says Walmart is continuing to take other preventative measures against COVID-19, including increased cleaning, limiting the number of shoppers at one time and wellness checks of its employees.
