Arrest made in family disturbance

KAMLOOPS — A 27-year old man was arrested last night (Monday) following a family dispute in Westsyde.

Staff Sergeant Mat. Van Laer says police received a report around 9:00 PM Monday night about a man in a residence on Mountainview Place acting erratically, and brandishing a large knife.

Unsure of the nature of the disturbance, police responded in number and Staff Van Laer says other residents were able to get out of the place safely.

Police made contact with the suspect and arrested him in his back yard without incident. Van Laer says they can’t comment on the details of the incident, but says they can confirm there are no more public safety concerns for people in that area.

Staff Van Laer says they can’t take any chances with public safety when those types of calls come in, and thanked residents of the area for following the direction of RCMP members on scene in dealing with the incident safely.
