KAMLOOPS — One man has been taken into custody, after Kamloops RCMP responded to a home invasion early Saturday morning on the city’s north shore.

Staff Sgt. Mat Van Laer says in a release that officers arrived at home in the 600 block of Comox Avenue around 1:20 a.m Saturday (August 1), after a firearms related report.

When police arrived, what is believed to be a get-away vehicle was intercepted, and one man was taken into custody.

Two of the home’s occupants were called out by police, and one of the residents suffered minor injuries at the hands of the home intruders.

The Emergency Response Team (ERT) was called out to the scene, and confirmed that nobody else was left behind.

“It appears that the fast response from our police officers may have prevented something much more serious from happening, we are thankful that nobody was seriously hurt” said Van Laer. “As the investigation is ongoing, we can’t release any further details at this time but it’s important that we let the public know why police were in that area in such numbers, and that all safety concerns have been addressed.”

Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to contact Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000, or Crime Stoppers.
