Behind the Scenes Buzz with Daisy Ridley and Jurassic World
VENICE FILM FESTIVAL UNVEILS LINEUP: The 77th Venice International Film Festival unveiled its lineup on Tuesday. Venice Director Alberto Barbera highlighted two studio productions set to bow at Lido: The World to Come from director Mona Fastvold, which Sony is distributing. The intimate drama stars Casey Affleck, Vanessa Kirby, Katherine Waterston and Christopher Abbott and Nomadland, a road movie drama from director Chlo Zhao was previously announced as a Venice title. Barbera admitted that COVID-19 was a “specter at the feast” of this year’s event but told attendees that social distancing and new security and hygienic measures would be in place to make Venice 2020 “risk-free.” Cate Blanchett will head up the 2020 international jury, which will also include British director Joanna Hogg, French actress Ludivine Sagnier, Austrian filmmaker Veronika Franz, German director Christian Petzold, Romanian filmmaker Cristi Puiu and Italian writer Nicola Lagioia. DAISY RIDLEY TEAMS UP WITH KILLING EVE SCRIBE: Star Wars actress Daisy Ridley has teamed up with UK scribe Elinor Cook, a writer on season 3 of Killing Eve. The pair will work on Audible Original‘s Islanders, about a reality TV contestant. The story follows the story of a young woman played by Ridley, who feels invisible, until she’s thrust into a manufactured paradise on reality TV. The actress said: “I really enjoyed performing Elinor Cook’s Islanders. Coming from a group working environment, it’s very rare to have to perform a piece, uninterrupted, but I found the creative process to be challenging and rewarding in equal measure. Elinor’s writing is beautiful, and she manages to convey incredible depth, even through the facade of a constructed reality TV show. I feel really lucky I was able to explore this piece with Elinor and the Audible team.”
JURASSIC WORLD: CAMP CRETACEOUS TEASER DROPS: Netflix has shared a teaser and launch date for the eight-episode Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous. The animated series from Steven Spielberg, Colin Trevorrow and Frank Marshall will drop September 18th.
