Trans Canada Highway closed south of Ashcroft

KAMLOOPS — The Trans Canada Highway is going to be shut down most of this morning after a vehicle incident between Riverview Avenue and Cornwall Road. That’s pretty much the entire highway from Ashcroft to Spences Bridge.

No word yet on the incident itself, which happened 17 kilometers south of Ashcroft. Drive B.C. says at this point, there’s no estimated time of reopening.

Several reports indicate there was an accident that caused a small wildfire. It’s listed on the B.C. Wildfire Service web site as 1.40 hectares as of Monday night. Next update from Drive B.C. is slated for 11:00 AM this (Tuesday) morning.
