Williams Lake assault and robbery ends with arrest

WILLIAMS LAKE – Williams Lake RCMP were able to make a quick arrest following an early morning assault and robbery.
Mounties say the victim was riding a bicycle that pulled a small trailer near the intersection of 3rd Avenue and Proctor Street Friday morning (July 24) around 2:24 am. The suspect was in a vehicle that pulled up near the victim. Then the suspect stepped out of the vehicle and attacked the victim. The suspect tried to wrestle away the victim’s backpack unsuccessfully. Instead, the suspect took the bicycle and trailer.
Police say the suspect and victim knew each other. With a description from the victim, RCMP were able to track down the suspect quickly and make an arrest. Police also recovered the bicycle and trailer.
The victim was treated for injuries. Meantime police say the suspect is being held in custody.
