Kanye Doesn’t Make the South Carolina Ballot

Rapper Kanye West‘s presidential bid is off to a slow start as the rapper failed to make the ballot in South Carolina. The rapper hosted a campaign rally on Sunday, July 19th, but it wasn’t enough to generate the 10,000 signatures necessary to make the November ballot.

  • Chris Whitmore, Director of Public Information for the South Carolina State Election Commission, told TMZ.com that West had a hard deadline of noon on Monday, July 20th, to get the 10,000 signatures needed as a petition candidate. According to Whitmore, the deadline came and went without any communication from West’s team.
  • Unfortunately for West, write in candidates are not allowed in South Carolina. His only other chance to get on the ballot would be to earn the nomination of an existing political party which is unlikely.
  • In related news, West was able to submit his paperwork and $35,000 filing fee to make the Oklahoma ballot.
