QUESNEL — Four people are lucky to be alive after they were involved in a fiery crash on the Nazko Highway Sunday afternoon (July 19). Quesnel RCMP say the truck they were driving in left the highway, flipped into the ditch and became engulfed in flames.

Sgt. Richard Weseen says the crash occurred just after 12:00 pm, approximately 110 kilometres west of Quesnel.

“The four occupants were removed from the vehicle prior to the truck catching fire. One occupant was transported by ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries. The other three occupants were transported to the hospital with minor injuries by local citizens,” said Sgt. Weseen.

“As the truck burned, bystanders used fire extinguishers to keep the fire from spreading into the forest. Emcon and the Cariboo Highway Rescue Team then worked in conjunction to contain and put out the small brush fire.”
