KELOWNA – Six people working at Kelowna General Hospital have tested positive for the COVID-19 virus. Interior Health released the information late Friday afternoon.

It says the cases are connected to a cluster of cases that sprung out of large community gatherings in Kelowna’s downtown around July 1st celebrations.

Interior Health says there is no indication any patients have been exposed. It’s confident all staff are following proper health protocols and remaining at home if they are experiencing symptoms.

Meantime it says the hospital is operating normally and is welcoming patients who require hospital care.

Interior Health is reminding residents to maintain physical distancing protocols, wear a mask when physical distancing measures are difficult to follow, and wash your hands regularly. It’s also advising residents to limit social gatherings to 6 people and to consider avoiding gatherings if you have family or friends who are at high risk of severe disease.

Interior Health will update the status of the situation Monday (July 20).
