KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP say a series of busts over the past two days has resulted in about $70,000 worth of illicit drugs being seized.

According to a news release from Staff Sgt. Mathias Van Laer, the first incident took place Thursday (July 16) at about 10:00 a.m. when RCMP were alerted to apparent drug transactions related to a vehicle in the 200-block of Tranquille Road.

Once officers found the vehicle and searched both it and its occupants, they recovered about 177 grams of suspected fentanyl, an air pistol, an electric baton and nearly $25,000 in cash.

Later Thursday, officers raided a home on the North Shore, seizing a large amount of suspected fentanyl, two guns and about $5,000 in cash.

Then Friday at about 3:00 a.m., RCMP responded to a single-vehicle crash at Hillside Drive and Pacific Way. Inside the vehicle that crashed, officers found 93 grams of cocaine and more cash.

“All-in-all, we believed that all these drugs seizures represent approximately $70,000 worth street value,” said Van Laer. “Seizing this amount of drugs, money and dangerous weapons is nothing short than outstanding work from our members, helping keeping the community safe.”

Van Laer says the B.C. Prosecution Service will determine whether criminal charges will be laid in each case.
