VICTORIA — The province has announced 21 new cases of COVID-19 Wednesday (July 15), including four within Interior Health.

According to a news release from Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and Health Minister Adrian Dix, the new cases bring the total in B.C. to 3,149.

They have been recorded in these regions:

  • 1,023 (Vancouver Coastal)
  • 1,659 (Fraser Health)
  • 135 (Island Health)
  • 216 (Interior Health)
  • 65 (Northern Health)
  • 51 (Reside outside of Canada)

There are 207 active cases of COVID-19 in the province, including 14 people in hospital and five in intensive care.

No new deaths were reported Wednesday, leaving the provincial death toll at 189.

Of the total cases, 2,753 people are considered fully recovered, or 87 per cent.

Dr. Henry says provincial health officials are concerned about the increase in cases seen in recent days, and note many of them have been found in the wider community rather than in long-term care and assisted living facilities.
