MALAKWA, B.C. — The suspect in a suspicious death in Edmonton Saturday (July 11) has been found dead near Sicamous.

Edmonton Police issued a news release Saturday saying it was investigating a suspicious death, and that they were looking for a suspect vehicle — a white, late-model Toyota Tacoma.

According to a release from Sicamous RCMP, an officer spotted the vehicle stopped along the Trans Canada Highway in Malakwa. When he approached it, he found it was empty and running.

Due to the nature of the Edmonton incident, the RCMP’s Critical Incident Program was called out.

Officers searching away from the vehicle found the suspect a short distance into a wooded area, dead.

Southeast District RCMP spokesman Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey says criminality is not suspected in the man’s death, and Sicamous RCMP will support the Edmonton Police in its investigation.

Anyone with more information about the suspect or the vehicle in B.C. is asked to call Sicamous RCMP at (250) 836-2878.
