Local volunteer named B.C. ALS volunteer of the year.
KAMLOOPS — Kamloops resident Pat Tomlinson was named the recipient of the ALS Society of B.C. Roy Slater Volunteer Of The Year award this week. Tomlinson is a long-time worker on behalf of ALS.
Normally, Pat and other volunteers would receive their awards at a ceremony in the Lower Mainland, but the event was cancelled this year because of COVID-19. Instead, B.C. Executive Director Wendy Toyer came to Kamloops to present the award to Pat.
Tomlinson officially logged over 278 volunteer hours last year, the highest in B.C. and the Yukon . That doesn’t take into account the hundreds of unofficial hours put in. She has coordinated the Kamloops Walk to End ALS for 5 years, as well as countless other activities. The Kamloops Walk received the Walk of the Year award in 2017.
