Kamloops transit buses to be outfitted with glass driver doors

VICTORIA — B.C. Transit says it will begin retrofitting its Kamloops Transit buses Thursday (July 9) to add full driver doors. The Kamloops system is one of 34 systems in B.C. getting the retrofits, totalling 633 buses.

B.C. Transit says the alterations are being made in the interest of safety for bus drivers.

The driver doors are adjustable tempered glass barriers placed to the right of the drivers.

The transit operator says installation will take place over the next two weeks, and there will be no planned interruption to service levels.

The changes apply to conventional fleet buses. Community and HandyDART buses will continue to be equipped with vinyl panels.
