Surrey man arrested in assault of security guard at Riverside Park

KAMLOOPS — RCMP have made an arrest in the assault of a security guard at Riverside Park last Thursday (July 2).

According to a news release issued Tuesday evening (July 7), members of the Kamloops RCMP’s Crime Reduction Unit arrested a 33-year-old Surrey man today.

He is the suspect in an attack that broke the orbital bone of a 71-year-old security guard. The guard had confronted the suspect about smoking in the park.

Staff Sgt. Ed Preto says the man is being held in custody. Findings from the investigation will be forwarded to the B.C. Prosecution Service for potential charge approval.
