Kamloops Fire & Rescue kept busy Monday night
KAMLOOPS — Police are investigating an accident Monday night on the CP rail lines at River Road in Valleyview.
Apparently, a vehicle was hit by a train just before 11:00 PM Monday night. Kamloops Fire Crews arrived on scene but the train was blocking the crossing. CP crews separated the train so the rescue crews could cross the road and gain access to the vehicle. KFR’s Daryl Cooper says all occupants were out of the vehicle safely.
Cooper says at this point, they’re not sure what transpired, but it’s believed the crossing arms were down at the time, and the driver may have tried to beat the train, but that hasn’t been confirmed.
Fire crews also attended a vehicle fire up the Lac Le Jeune Road. Cooper says initial reports, which came in just before 3:00 AM, indicated shots fired, but it may have been the tires exploding.
