Province reports six more COVID-19 deaths over past three days

VICTORIA — B.C. health officials are reporting 31 new cases of COVID-19 over the past three days, and a startling six more deaths in the province.

Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry was sombre as she reported the total number of recorded cases in B.C. has hit 2,978, and the death toll has reached 183.

Four of the newly-reported deaths took place in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, while the remaining two were within Fraser Health.

The 2,978 total recorded cases in the province are spread out as follows:

  • 1,008 (Vancouver Coastal)
  • 1,570 (Fraser Health)
  • 132 (Island Health)
  • 203 (Interior Health)
  • 65 (Northern Health)

There have been no new outbreaks announced in B.C.

Dr. Henry says there are 166 active cases of COVID-19 in the province, including 16 people who are hospitalized, of whom four are in critical or intensive care.

Of the 2,978 total recorded cases, 2,629 people are considered fully recovered, or 88 per cent.
