Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Take Another Step Away

See ya! Prince Harry and Meghan Markle took another step away from their royal life. Sources tell Bazaar that “paperwork has been filed with Companies House and the Charity Commission to formally close the charity [Sussex Royal] down.”

The insider adds: “During this period all Trustees will step down from their roles, except for The Duke of Sussex who will formally remain as a Director and Trustee until the liquidation process is complete. The Duke and Duchess remain incredibly grateful for the support and guidance the Trustees have given during this period.”

As part of their formal agreement with Queen Elizabeth, Harry and Meghan decided to end their official charitable efforts for the royal family, along with relinquishing other royal duties and official Royal Highness titles.

The pair are deeply involved in their own philanthropic efforts as civilians. In April, they announced plans to launch Archewell, named in part for their son Archie. Since moving to L.A., they have also reached out to a number of organizations devoted to social causes like Black Lives Matter. One of their Sussex Royal projects, a sustainable travel initiative named Travelyst, will operate as an independent nonprofit based in the U.K.
