Former Blazers 1st round bantam pick gets release from North Dakota

KAMLOOPS — A former Blazers first round bantam draft pick has asked for and been granted his release from the NCAA University of North Dakota.

Massimo Rizzo was the 15th overall pick by the Blazers in the 2016 bantam draft.

Rizzo, who is 19, scored 19 goals and 44 points in 42 games with Coquitlam in the B.C. Hockey League last season.

Blazers General Manager Matt Bardsley says they will continue a dialogue and discuss options with Rizzo. who was a 7th round pick of the Carolina Hurricanes in the 2019 NHL entry draft.
