Sia says she once saved child star Maddie Ziegler from the clutches of Harvey Weinstein by stopping the young dancer from boarding a plane with the convicted sex offender.

Sia told The Zach Sang Show she has “always felt this extreme desire to protect Ziegler” who appeared in Sia’s award-winning 2014 music video “Chandelier” at the age of just 11.

“You know I kept her off a plane that Harvey Weinstein tried to get her on,” Sia recalled. “I know there’s times where my insight has really made a difference, like kept her safe.

“Yeah, that was really disgusting.”

Sia said she advised Ziegler’s mother, Melissa, not to let her child on board the plane, telling her: “Please don’t, do not do that, do not do that, do not do that.”

It is not known when this incident occurred. Ziegler is now 17.

Weinstein is currently serving a 23 year sentence in a New York prison after being found guilty of sexual assault and rape in the third degree.

Sia recently became a grandmother for the first time. In an interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music earlier this week, she revealed one of her two adult sons, who she adopted in 2019, had become a father to twins.

Ziegler will next be seen in the Steven Spielberg remake of the musical West Side Story.
