Red-hot Kamloops building sector does nearly $70 million in June business
KAMLOOPS — While the COVID-19 pandemic has devastated almost every aspect of society, the Kamloops construction sector has proven largely impervious.
Month-end numbers for June provided by the City of Kamloops show an eye-popping $69.9 million in construction activity last month alone.
The bulk of that activity came in the form of a single permit valued at more than $45 million, in the institutional category. (This is presumably related to the Patient Care Tower at Royal Inland Hospital, though that is unconfirmed.)
2019 saw a busy June as well, though it topped out at $50.5 million.
